Introduction

With KML files, you can define precise geographic areas for your store’s delivery coverage. This guide walks you through the process of creating a KML file using Google Earth, a fast and user-friendly tool recommended for this task.

Benefits for Your Business

Using KML files for delivery zones offers key advantages:

  1. Precise Coverage Control
Define exact delivery boundaries to avoid missed or invalid orders.

  2. Improved Logistics
Helps drivers and dispatchers operate within clear, predefined areas.

  3. Customizable Zones
Create multiple delivery regions based on store capacity or demand.

  4. Easy Integration
KML files can be uploaded directly to your store settings in Ordering.co.

  5. Scalable Setup
Ideal for single-location stores or multi-zone delivery networks.

How It Works

Follow these steps to create a KML file using Google Earth:

1.-Go to google earth page and find the option to create a new project and click on "New Project"

2.-Once you create a new project, you will be able to write your city on the search option.

3.-Now, to determine the area where you want to make your deliveries, you must select the “add path or polygons” option.

4.-Once you have selected the “add paths or polygons” option, you can proceed to create the area you want to cover. When you have finished creating the area of your choice, select the “Save to Project” button.

(The polygon or path must always be closed to avoid any problems.)

5.-Once you have created and saved your preferred area, we will assign a name to the project to make it easier to find and assign to our store.

6.-Once we have named our project, we will locate the icon with three vertical dots on the left-hand panel. We click on it and select the option “Export as KML file.”

That's it! Congratulations!

You have successfully created your KML file.

Use Cases

  1. Urban Delivery Zones
Define neighborhoods or districts for efficient routing.

  2. Multi-Store Networks
Assign different KML zones to each store location.

  3. Dynamic Coverage
Adjust delivery areas based on demand or operational changes.

Conclusion

Once your KML file is ready, you can upload it to your store settings in your dashboard to activate location-based delivery.
