Overview

The Importer allows you to quickly upload and update large amounts of business data using a spreadsheet file instead of creating everything manually.

With this tool, you can import:

  • Categories

  • Products

  • Product modifiers (Extras, Options, and Sub-options)

This is especially useful when:

  • Migrating a menu from another platform

  • Uploading a large number of products

  • Updating product information in bulk

  • Managing complex modifier structures

The importer processes the data row by row, using external IDs to associate each element (business, category, product, or modifier) with the correct records in the system

How the Importer Works

The importer uses a structured file (usually CSV or Excel) that contains all the information for the elements you want to create or update.

The process follows these steps:

Prepare importer structure

Prepare the importer file

Match the Business External ID

Upload the file

Categories, products, and modifiers are created or updated automatically

Each row in the file represents an element that will be created or modified in the system.

Benefits of Using the Importer

Using the importer helps businesses:

✔ Upload large menus in minutes
✔ Avoid manual product creation
✔ Update product information in bulk
✔ Manage complex modifier structures
✔ Maintain consistent product data

This tool is particularly useful for businesses with large or frequently updated menus.

Part 2: How to Use Your Importer

With this importer, you can create and edit your categories, products, and product modifiers (Extras, Options, and Suboptions).

The importer processes the import row by row, associating the external IDs of your business and all other elements in the file.

  1. Prepare your importer file:

    1. In this link https://d.pr/f/Hb7bbT, we provide an example importer file that includes all fields. Later, additional examples will be provided for different use cases.

  2. Prepare your business for import:

    1. In your business settings, you need to edit the “External ID” value to match the one in your importer, don't forget to click Save.. This means that the content from your file will be imported into that business.

NOTE: Use a different ID for each business. Please see the attached image for reference. Keep the decimal point format in the file using a dot for prices, for example, 5.5.

3. Then, simply upload your importer file, and that’s it—your categories and products should now be visible.

Other Use Cases:

Importing only categories and products: You can import just the products, for example from this list . To do this, simply leave the unnecessary modifier fields (Extras, Options, and Suboptions) empty.

Making changes to products: If you only want to make updates, for example to product descriptions, you can perform the import while keeping the external IDs of your products. The importer will automatically update only the changes you made.

Importing multiple modifiers (Extras, Options, and Suboptions): You can use this importer file as an example, which imports different modifiers for a single product.

Best Practices

To avoid errors when using the importer:

  • Always use unique External IDs

  • Verify that price values use decimal format

  • Test imports with a small dataset first

  • Ensure the Business External ID matches the file
