Selecting the Order Type

The checkout requirements often vary depending on how the customer receives their order. You must select an order type from the dropdown menu to begin configuring its specific fields:

  • Delivery: Standard home or office delivery.

  • Pickup: Customer collects the order at the establishment.

  • Eatin: For customers ordering while physically at a table.

  • Curbside: Pickup where the order is brought to the customer's vehicle.

  • Drive thru: Traditional window pickup.

  • Seat delivery: Specifically used for deliveries to a specific seat (common in stadiums or theaters).

  • Catering (Delivery/Pickup): For large-scale or scheduled bulk events.

Configuring Fields: Status and Requirement

For each selected order type, you can manage the list of available fields using two toggles:

  1. Status: Determines if the field is Visible to the customer on the checkout screen.

  2. Required: Determines if the field is Mandatory. If active, the customer cannot click "Confirm Order" until that specific information is provided.

Key Fields Available:

  • Customer Details: Name, Middle name, Last name, Email, Birthdate.

  • Logistics: Zipcode (useful for verifying specific delivery zones at the last minute).

  • Order Preferences: * Coupon: Enable this to show the discount code input.

    • Driver Tip: Show or hide the gratuity option.

    • Comments: Allow customers to leave special instructions.

Practical Example: Mandatory Comments

If you set the Comments field to Required, the customer will see a message on the checkout screen stating "Cart comments are mandatory." The "Confirm Order" button will remain inactive or blocked until they enter text in the special instructions box.

Field Configuration

Customer View

Comments Status: ON / Required: ON

The field appears and the order cannot be placed without a comment.

Comments Status: ON / Required: OFF

The field appears but the customer can leave it empty.

Comments Status: OFF

The comment box is completely removed from the checkout screen.

If comments are disabled, the comment field will not be displayed.

Important Distinction

Note: These settings only apply to the fields shown during the checkout process. They do not affect the information requested during the initial user registration or login. To change registration fields, please refer to the User Information section.

Pro Tip: For Eatin orders, you might want to disable the Driver Tip and Zipcode fields to keep the interface as clean and fast as possible for in-store customers.
